FCB Executive Committee Meeting Minutes June 4, 2024

The meeting was called to order at 05:45 PM by President Mikey Wiseman.

Present were: President Mikey Wiseman, President; 1st Vice President / Membership chair, Cassandra Jessie; 2nd Vice President, Shelley Sawyer; Recording Secretary, Elizabeth Bowden; Treasurer, Mark Lear; Immediate Past President, Sheila Young; Executive Assistant, Kati Lear; and Koni Sims, ACB liaison officer.  Miami Beach members were: President, Anthony Corona;  2nd vice President, David New; Treasurer, Roberto Perez; and Gabriel Lopez Kafati.  

President, Mikey Wiseman suggested the date of dissolution for November 30, 2024.  He asked that Miami Beach have paperwork turned in on November 1, 2024.  Miami Beach agreed.  Mikey asked that should a new organization be formed from members of the Miami Beach Council of the Blind that “Council of the Blind” not be used in the new name.  Mikey asked that Miami Beach provide a copy of the meeting minutes showing a unanimous vote for dissolution along with an ending Treasurer’s report and that Miami Beach return the paper charter issued by FCB when the chapter was adopted by FCB.  The chapter will be sent a copy of their charter from the Archives Committee to assist them in locating their copy.  Miami Beach agreed that these tasks and requests would be met by Miami Beach by November 1, 2024, in preparation for removal from EIN number, Sunbiz and all web pages and lists after November 30, 2024.  

Mikey talked about chapter participation in FCB meetings, etc. inviting Miami Beach to participate in FCB meetings.  Membership Chair, Cassandra Jessie reminded Miami Beach that any members should change affiliations to other chapters to ensure that members still be provided member considerations if they wish to remain with FCB as members.  Mikey suggested that another meeting be scheduled in October to ensure that all tasks are being completed and to offer assistance if necessary.  All participants agreed that this could be done.      

The meeting was adjourned at 06:06 PM.
